What Are We To Do With Hamas And Palestine Now?

Could things get any worse between the Israelis and those who call themselves Palestinians? As they voted into office new leadership of the International Terrorist Party, by a 60% margin even? What happens next? Their economy is failing, unemployment is rising and half of the previous political party has quit.

The Palestinians have determined by vote to have a government run my criminals, murderers and International Terrorists. How can anyone support that? Well, believe it or not some people do. There are people even in the United States who support the Palestinian cause to such a large degree that they believe this is actually a change for the better? I have a few questions for these folks who are out full force on blogs around the Internet;

Why do you support International Terrorists and Hamas? Why to you think it is okay to kill Jews? What do you blame all the troubles of Palestinians on Israel and the US? How can you possibly support a Pre-war Iraq under Saddam who routinely killed masses of Kurds, threatened the world and whose sons tortured, raped and killed citizens to fulfill their sick entertainment? Hmm?

Into the Abyss – Gaza and the Crisis of Political Morality

Whatever one’s reading of Hamas’s intentions as it takes over the leadership of the Palestinian Authority, the notion that its sweeping electoral victory spells “the end of the peace process” is nonsense. The peace process died when Sharon was elected prime minister in 2000. More correctly, it was killed-with malice aforethought-by Sharon’s “unilateralism” with which he implemented the disengagement from Gaza, which in turn provided cover for his continued unilateralism. That he was bringing off the disengagement against the wishes of the settlers helped to divert attention from his refusal to have any negotiations with the Palestinians.

Unilateralism continues to serve as the euphemism for Israeli policies that are expropriating half of what was to have been the state of Palestine, and are concentrating the Palestinian population, about to outnumber the Jewish population, in territorially disconnected Bantustans that make a mockery of the promise of an independent, sovereign, and viable Palestinian state made in the “road map” of 2003, which was put forward by the Quartet of the US, the EU, the UN, and Russia. Unjust Politics and Peace

The world in which we live inhabits over 6.8 billion people, each of whom are unique through life experiences, differing through ethnicities, cultures, beliefs and religious views. However, no amount of differences should value one innocent life from being of higher significance than another innocent life, as we are all fundamentally, human beings consisting of the same biological components which keep us breathing.

It is the above principle which forms a base to all my views on domestic and foreign politics. The notion of “terrorism” is a concept that is severely misused in today’s world, and highly contradicts the principle of equal value by completely evading the full definition of the word. Although the definition varies, I am adamant we can all agree on a general definition along the lines of – “the unjust use of violence against civilians in order to achieve some goal”. The tragic events of 9/11 resulted in just over 2900 civilian deaths; an appalling act going against any religious or moral view. I condemn any form of unjust violence, and I thoroughly believe in punishing criminals by an appropriate, lawful, legal manner. This would involve a fair investigation, the build up of strong evidence, arrest, trials, and eventually conviction. The US had evidence to believe that members in Afghanistan were responsible for the attacks of 9/11, and in my view this should then have led to a thorough investigation, eventually detaining those responsible, and only those responsible. However, the US with the aid of Britain, responded by attacking and invading an entire nation, which has to date, led to the death of tens of thousands of civilians. When there is a murder case in the UK or U.S., the police and other crime scene organisations respond by targeting the person responsible, through the gathering of strong evidence, ensuring no innocent person is sentenced. Why should our lawful, just, and fair policies suddenly change when we exit our borders? Surely, no innocent civilians should have been subjected to harm in the process of capturing those responsible? When we invaded Afghanistan, an entire country, it was inevitable that the loss of innocent civilians, including women and children was going to take place. Going back to the definition of “terrorism”, I stated that the use of the word contradicts the principle of equal value, and I say this because the acts carried out by the U.S. and UK governments against Afghanistan fits the definition – however, due to their world status, this term will never be applied by the masses. No one person can justify the killing of an innocent human being, and in my eyes, not even governments or world leaders.
