"I've been very distressed in my visit to the Holy Land; it reminded me so much of what happened to us blacks in South Africa. I have seen the humiliation of the Palestinians at checkpoints and roadblocks, suffering like us when young white police officers prevented us from moving about...The current divestment effort is the first, though certainly not the only, necessary move in that direction."
                                                                                                                                                 -Archbishop Desmond Tutu

The Palestine Solidarity Movement

The PSM mailing list is a listserv dedicated towards advancing the divestment movement. A forum for discussion, networking, and strategizing, this listserv has been extremely valuable to activist groups. In order to join this list, please email the PSM with the following information:
1. Name
2. Organization
3. Interest in Palestine
4. Statement that you agree with the PSM points of unity

In order to remain on this listserv, all members must abide by the following code of conduct:

SWP CODE OF CONDUCT

The goal of this Code of Conduct is to help facilitate better and more responsible communication on the SWP listserv.

Given that the SWP listserv is a tool of communication for Palestine solidarity activists, conduct on the listserv affects the functioning of our network as a whole. Aggressive and disrespectful messages to the listserv are disruptive, divisive and a waste of time. We must all refrain from this kind of behavior on the listserv.

Just as physical meetings require facilitation to keep the discussion fair, it is necessary to have a similar process and consciousness online. Firstly, we should all commit to "moderating" ourselves on the listserv. This can be done primarily by realizing that messages posted should be intended for and relevant to everyone and the work we are doing together. Secondly, we must remember that all members who joined the listserv have agreed to the following
principles:
1. End the Israeli occupation
2. Right of return for Palestinian refugees
3. Equality under law
4. Oppose racism and all forms of oppression
5. Divestment is our strategy of solidarity with the Palestinian people

To this end, all members of the SWP listserv are asked to adhere to the following guidelines when posting:
1. Message relates to the topic of Palestine activism
2. Message does not insult and/or personally attack another SWP member
3. Racism, discrimination, and/or intolerance are unacceptable
4. Message is not an announcement for a local event

Process to uphold the code of conduct:
1. When a violation of the Code of Conduct becomes apparent, the violator will be contacted off the list by a moderator to discuss and resolve the conflict.
2. If the situation persists, the violator will no longer be able to post messages to the listserv.
3. Frequent violators will be removed entirely from listserv.
