Church of Englad votes to Divest - 2/7/06
The General Synod of the Church of England voted to sell the Church’s holdings in companies whose products are used by the Israeli government in the Palestinian territories. The measure is expected to arouse condemnation from Jewish leaders in the UK. In a surprise development, the General Synod voted to support a call from the Episcopalian Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East for “morally responsible investment in the Palestinian occupied territories.”

Anti-Divestment Candidate Soundly Defeated in Somerville - 1/12/06
In a stunning defeat for anti-divestment forces in Somerville, the avidly anti-divestment candidate E. Moroney was soundly defeated in the only head-to-head match for elected office that Somerville has seen in two years.

Norway municipality launches boycott of Israel - Norway's Finance Minister Kristin Halvorsen is backing a planned consumer boycott of Israeli goods, contradicting the coalition government's policy. Last month, the municipality of Soer-Trondelag in central Norway launched a boycott of Israeli goods and services.

The Green Party of the United States (GPUS) publicly calls for divestment from and boycott of the State of Israel until such time as the full individual and collective rights of the Palestinian people are realized. The party calls on all civil society institutions and organizations and on governments around the world to implement a comprehensive divestment and boycott program.

Over 170 Palestinian organizations release this statement calling upon international civil society organizations and people of conscious all over the world to impose broad boycotts and implement divestment initiatives against Israel until it complies with international law and universal principles of human rights.
